The life of local people in mountainous areas of northern and north-central provinces are severely affected by the prolonged cold spell in recent days. The extremely cold temperatures are reported in mountainous areas of northern province of Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La and Bac Kan and the north-central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, staying low between 0-4 degrees Celcius or even below 0 degree Celcius in high mountainous areas.
