Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Đỗ Hùng Việt attended the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-57) in Vientiane, Laos, on July 26, where he welcomed the progress in relations between ASEAN and its partners, emphasising the need for coordination to further deepen existing cooperation areas.

Deputy Foreign Minister Đỗ Hùng Việt attended the 15th Mekong – Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (MJC 15) and the 12th Mekong – Korea Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (MKC 12) held in Vientiane, Laos, on July 26.

A wave of condolences have poured in from world leaders, international organisations, rulling parties, Communist parties and partner parties following the death of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

Chairman of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Lê Hoài Trung hosted a reception in Hà Nội on Friday for a delegation of the United Left Movement (MIU) Party of the Dominican Republic, led by Secretary of the MIU Party's Central Committee and head of its International Department Marthe Pevez.

The Vietnamese Government leader expressed his deep gratitude to the Thai minister and delegation for coming to Việt Nam to pay respects to the Party leader, describing this as evidence of the friendship and close ties between leaders and the people of the two countries.

Diplomatic representatives of the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Israel, and the APEC Secretariat came to pay homage to the Party chief, reflecting the broad international respect and admiration for General Secretary Trọng’s leadership and legacy.

The State Funeral Board and the family of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Nguyễn Phú Trọng delivered a thank-you message following the burial service for the Party leader on Friday afternoon.

Major General Phạm Mạnh Thắng, Director of the Việt Nam Department for Peacekeeping Operations (VDPO) under the ministry, said in order to prepare replacement forces, the department has selected highly qualified officers and organised various training courses following requirements of the UN while sending officers abroad for training.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn said that the Belarusian delegation's attendance at the state funeral demonstrates the sincere feelings and sharing of the country’s State and people towards the Party, State, and people of Việt Nam during this period of sorrow and loss.

Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Lương Cường thanked the Central Committee of the KPRF, Chairman of the KPRF Gennady Zyuganov and members of the KPRF for their special sentiments, deep condolences and respect to General Secretary Trọng.

Deputy Chairman Siarhei Khamenka, on behalf of the Belarusian President and people, expressed his deep condolences over the passing of a true patriot of Việt Nam and a sincere friend of the Belarusian people.

Mẫn said he believes that the new generation of Cambodian leaders will make contributions to the development of Cambodia and bring the traditional friendship and solidarity between Việt Nam and Cambodia to a new height.

These included leaders of the Party, State, various committees, ministries, sectors, localities, units, the armed forces, diplomatic delegations, representatives of organisations, international friends, and compatriots.

The memorial service for General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Nguyễn Phú Trọng was held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội at 1 pm on Friday.

As the nation prepares for the memorial and funeral services, the presence of so many mourners underscores the significant impact Nguyễn Phú Trọng had on the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese people.

The nation is coming together to honour and bid farewell to a leader who has significantly impacted the country. Various governmental and ceremonial committees are working tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the events reflects the respect and solemnity befitting his legacy.

Delegations from Belarus, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand came to pay their respects at the National Funeral Hall in Hà Nội.

The memorial service and burial ceremony are scheduled for later in the day.

Việt Nam’s Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng is a visionary leader and a beacon of intelligence, and has left egacies for the younger generation of Việt Nam, which includes political stability, a developing economy, and a progressive society, according to Venezuelan Ambassador to Việt Nam Juan Carlos Fernandes.

From early morning, seemingly endless streams of people from all over gathered to bid a final farewell to the leader who dedicated his life to the nation and its people.
