The conference unanimously elected Tô Lâm, the current President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as the new General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam on Saturday.

The NA Chairman acknowledged and commended the serious and responsible working spirit of the agencies, saying they have significantly contributed to the overall achievements of the NA and its Standing Committee during more than half of the current term.

Amid current rapid and complicated developments in the world, Việt Nam and India should strongly uphold their tradition of friendship and solidarity, and enhance their effective cooperation to achieve new strategic goals together.

The Vietnamese NA supports and will create a favourable legal framework to promote the signing and implementation of cooperation agreements between the two countries.

Building on the strong foundation of 52 years of bilateral relations, the two leaders affirmed their determination to strengthen and deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Việt Nam and India in the coming years, meeting the legitimate aspirations and interests of the peoples of both countries.
