About 100,000 Vietnamese people are living, working and studying in Laos.

Defence-security remains an important pillar in the Việt Nam-Lao-Cambodia partnership, leaders of the three countries remarked, adding that economy-trade-investment collaboration has recorded strong progress.

During the trip, the leader conducted nearly 80 bilateral and multilateral activities.

The visit is made at the invitation of Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính.

During the meeting, he congratulated Laos, the chair of ASEAN in 2024, on the successful organisation of the bloc’s important events.

ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN BIS) is the largest annual business-related forum in Southeast Asia, organised by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council within the framework of the ASEAN Summit.

PM Chính emphasised that ties between the two countries have reached the highest level of mutual trust, with increasingly effective cooperation in multiple areas.

The strong cultural ties between the two countries and the sustainable development of the India – Việt Nam traditional relationship were highlights of the ceremony commemorating Việt Nam's National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2024).

The government leader is scheduled to deliver a key speech on Việt Nam’s views on issues facing ASEAN and the region, and discuss with other delegates solutions to improve regional cooperation and connectivity quality.

Schwab expressed his admiration for Việt Nam's significant changes and strong development. He commended the performance of the Vietnamese Government, especially in maintaining impressive economic growth in recent years despite difficulties facing the global economy.

France is interested in legal and judicial cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation, and wishes to enhance it, firstly in the implementation of the cooperation programme for 2024-25 signed by the two ministries.

The two sides reaffirmed their common determination to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation, which are the pillars of the bilateral relationship.
