Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son urged nations to turn commitments into actions, pool resources for sustainable development, address the debt crisis, and strengthen the Global South's role in reforming the international financial system during his speech at the First Biennial Summit in New York on September 24.

To jointly overcome the challenges of climate change, countries must fully and promptly deliver on their climate finance commitments, particularly resources for a just transition linked with ensuring social security and supporting vulnerable communities, said Vietnamese President Luong Cuong at the Special High-Level Event on Climate Action in New York on September 24 (local time).

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Việt Nam Lê Hoài Trung and Tuvaluan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labour, and Trade Paulson Panapa agreed to continue discussions to promote concrete cooperation in areas of potential such as blue economy, tourism, and education, and to work closely together at multilateral forums of which both countries are members.

President Lương Cường affirmed that Việt Nam always attaches importance to strengthening friendship and cooperation with Türkiye, one of its leading partners in the Middle East.

President Cường emphasised Việt Nam’s steadfast and consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of external relations, being an active and responsible member of the international community, and being committed to multilateralism and an international order based on international law.

President Cường affirmed that Việt Nam always treasures and wishes to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Iraq, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

President Lương Cường appreciated the efforts by those in the US in general and in New York in particular to stabilise their lives, integrate well into the host society, preserve the national identity and culture, and maintain their bond with the homeland.

President Lương Cường affirmed that Việt Nam welcomes US businesses increase cooperation and investment in such strategic fields as the semiconductor industry and the training of high-quality human resources. He called on the US Government to soon recognise Việt Nam as a market economy and remove the country from the strategic export control list.
