Yellow mai flowers (Ochna integerrima) are usually in full bloom around Lunar New Year (Tet holiday), making it a favourite Tet flower in southern Vietnam. To meet flower demand for Tet, Jrai ethnic in the Central Highlands city of Pleiku are busy caring for the yellow flowers that were bred from forest trees, in hope that they will bloom at the right time for Tet festival in the mountainous region.
