White Stone Citadel - rare ancient citadel relic in Southern Vietnam

A recent archeological excavation has revealed a large-scale rampart-like structure, built of laterite in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau as a rare ancient citadel relic still remaining in the South. The relic, called the White Stone Wall, covers some 3,000 sq.m in Phuoc Thuan commune, Xuyen Moc district. Relics left on the excavation site are laterite walls, dug wells, traces of post holes, possibly wooden structures, traces of kitchens, garbage pits…, showing many periods of residence in this space from about 2,000-2,500 years ago. Artifacts found include prehistoric stone tools, and daily living items (pottery, terracotta, metal tools and weapons). VNA Photo: Huỳnh Sơn
