Heavy rains triggered by the remnants of storm Wipha, the third to hit Vietnam this year, have caused severe flooding and landslides in the central province of Nghe An. While the storm has passed, 15 communes with nearly 12,000 households in western Nghe An are still isolated, of which 3 communes with nearly 5,000 households are completely inaccesible. The floods have claimed four lives, and caused 1 person missing and 4 people injured. More than 1,100 houses were damaged or unroofed and nearly 5,000 others were swept away. About 3,500 hectares of rice, more than 3,000 hectares of vegetables, and over 7,000 hectares of other crops were affected. VNA Photo: Văn Tý
