The Vinabeef Tam Dao livestock and beef processing complex project, requiring some 3 trillion VND (130.4 million USD) in total investment in its first stage, is launched at a ceremony in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on March 8. As a joint effort between Vilico - an affiliate of Vinamilk and Japan’s diversified conglomerate Sojitz, the complex sprawls over 75.6ha in Tam Dao, made up of a beef cattle farm accommodating 10,000 head and a chilled beef processing plant with an annual capacity of 30,000 head, or 10,000 tonnes of product. It is expected to commence operations in 2024 with chilled beef products using Japanese technology under the brand name Vinabeef. The project includes cattle breeding and beef processing, with a total value of up to 500 million USD signed in the end of 2021 to develop cattle breeding and beef processing using Japanese technology in Vietnam. at least the next 5-10 years.
