The second day of athletics competition at the 31st SEA Games took place on May 15. Vietnam won 5 more gold medals in the following events: men's long jump (Athlete Nguyen Tien Trong), women's high jump (Athlete Pham Thi Diem), women's 400m run (athlete Nguyen Thi Huyen), men's 5000m run (Nguyen Van Lai) and the 3000m steeplechase (Nguyen Thi Oanh). Most notably, Vietnamese runner Nguyen Thi Oanh has established herself as one of the stars of SEA Games 31 by making a gold hat-trick after two days of competition. The winner of the women’s 3,000m hurdles on May 15, she clocked 9 min 46 sec to break her own record of 10 min and 0.02 sec set at SEA Games 30 in the Philippines. VNA Photo
