Fishermen in the central province of Quang Tri have been netting a great amount of ruoc, a small, krill-like prawn near shore recently. Each trip to the sea starts in early morning and ends in late afternoon, where fishermen can net up to one tonne of the prawn per trip. Freshly caught ruoc is sold on site for up to 20,000 VND (0.82 USD) per kg, while dried ruoc has a higher price of 55,000 VND (2.26 USD) per kg, bringing profitable income for local fishermen.
