Bang vuong (Putat) trees are grown on the islands of Vietnam, such as Truong Sa, Hoang Sa and have been grown at Ly Son island for more than 100 years. The flowers of putat trees bloom silently during summer nights, after bearing the salt, wind and harsh sun of the off-coast island. Each putat flower has white petals, with thin, long stamens which are white at the base and pink or purple at the tip, resembling fireworks at night. The flowers are large, showy and fragrant, and the flowering season are eagerly awaited by locals. VNA Photo: Kha Phạm
