Located about 100km from the mainland, Phu Quoc city is the largest island of Vietnam and a famous destination of the southern province of Kien Giang. From a deserted island with a sparse population mainly relying on fishing, after 50 years of the national reunification (1975-2025), Phu Quoc has developed to become one of the 30 first-class urban areas of the country, an important tourism-economic hub contributing significantly to the development of the region and the whole country. Dubbed as a pearl of the country’s southwest sea, Phu Quoc now is popular amongst both domestic and international visitors. VNA Photo: Lê Huy Hải
