The Phat Tich (Buddha’s Trace) Pagoda in the northern Bac Ninh province, 20km from Hanoi, remains a vestige of the biggest Buddhism centre in Vietnam, where Indian Buddhist monks used to come to do their missionary work. The pagoda preserves national treasures of thousands years old. Among them is the Amitabha Buddha stone statue, 1.85m in height, dating from the Ly Dynasty (11th century) and being known as the oldest in the North. VNA Photo: Thanh Thương
