The Phong ba tree (Octopus bush) has a tenacious vitality, its roots clinging deep into the crevices of rocks on the volcanic slopes of Ly Son island. From May to August each year, when Ly Son enters its hottest season, the tree grows vigorously, simultaneously blooming and bearing fruit. The clusters of white flowers stand out against the dark green leaves, creating a unique beauty of this tree on the frontier island. Not only does it contribute to the landscape and environment, but with its strong vitality and high adaptability, the tree has long become a symbol of the resilient spirit of the people of the island region.
