Dan Lai, one of the least populous ethnic groups in Vietnam, are living mainly in Mon Son commune of the central province of Nghe An. Staying in one of the most harsh land amidst the Pu Mat forests, Dan Lai people used to face decline due to poverty and difficult living conditions. Thanks to the Government's supports through the socio-economic development programmes in mountainous and ethnic minority areas, 240 families of Dan Lai people in Mon Son commune in recent years have escaped from poverty, confidently building a stable life.
