The Cau Ngu (Whale Worship) festival, one of the oldest ceremonies of the central Hue city, took place at the communal house of Thai Duong village in Thuan An ward on February 12 (the 12th day of the Lunar New Year). The largest festival of local coastal fishermen stands as one of the most distinctive cultural observances among the fishing communities, aiming to pray for calm seas, bountiful hauls and safe voyages. This is a cultural and spiritual activity with a history of hundreds of years for the coastal residents of Hue. VNA Photo: Văn Dũng
