The largest gladiolus flower growing area in Hiep An commune, Lam Dong province is ready for Lunar New Year (Tet festival). Gladiolus flower is shaped like a sword, derived from the legend of the brave warrior, so gladiolus expresses the courage of loving and sharing. The flower is in high demand during Tet festival. Gardeners will cut flowers and send them to markets in Hanoi, the Central provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Nha Trang. According to calculations, for each 1000 square metres (pole) of gladiolus flowers, the investment cost is about 20 million VND, the yield is estimated at 15,000 - 16,000 branches/pole. During the Tet flower season, the price of flowers sold at the garden ranges from 30.000 - 45.000 VND/bundle of 10 branches (1.23 - 1.84 USD), earning the gardener a profit of 40 - 50 million VND/pole (1639 - 2048 USD).
