The northern province of Hung Yen is entering the peak harvest season for longan, a specialty fruit of the province. The province is known for its distinctive longan varieties, with thick pulp, sweet taste and small seeds. Hung Yen is now home to about 5,000 hectares of longan, some 1,700 hectares of which meet the VietGAP standards, accounting for about 34% of the total. Many longan products of local cooperatives have been recognised as items under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme. VNA Photo: Đinh Văn Nhiều
