An ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 8 to mark the bloc’s 58th founding anniversary (August 8, 1967 – 2025) and the 30th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In his remarks, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong highlighted ASEAN’s nearly six decades of development, during which the region transformed from division to harmony, from confrontation to cooperation, and from poverty to dynamic growth, becoming a global bright spot for regional cooperation.
