Ho Chi Minh City does not organise a countdown programme on December 31 to welcome the New Year 2022 due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi also does not hold any outdoor activities on the New Year’s Eve, including countdown events and firework displays amidst a spike in COVID-19 cases. Instead, virtual events and pre-record cultural performance programmes to welcome 2022 are held and broadcast on the New Year’s Eve. On the last day of 2021, few people in these big cities go out to streets to welcome the New Year. VNA Photo
