The Department of Culture and Sports of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 19 launched an exhibition on the life and career of nationalist figure Phan Boi Chau and Japanese doctor Asaba Sakitaro, featuring the friendship between the two as well as the Vietnam-Japan relations. The exhibitions are part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2023) and the 118th anniversary of Dong Du movement, which was initiated by Phan Boi Chau in early 20th century to encourage young Vietnamese to go East to study and seek ways to salvage the nation.
