The main salt production season of salt farmers in Luu Hoa Thanh hamlet, Tan Thuan commune, Dam Doi district usually starts from December to the end of March of the lunar calendar every year. With an area of 1,250 square metres of salt fields on land produced in the traditional way, coupled with favourable weather conditions, since the beginning of the season, more than 30 tonnes of salt have been harvested, an increase of more than 10 tonnes compared to last year. At the beginning of this year's production season, the salt price was 1,100 VND/kg (0.045 USD/kg) for regular salt and 1,400 VND/kg (0.057 USD/kg) for tarpaulin salt (clean salt). At these price points, on average each household earns about 50 million VND (2,025 USD) per harvest. Salt farmers are very excited and feel secure about their harvest and production thanks to stable salt prices and higher salt yields. VNA Photo: Huỳnh Anh
