Tran Ngoc Van is a tour-guide and photographer for 20 years, helping tourists understand the art of tuong (hat boi) – a traditional theatre performance the southern province of Binh Dinh, his hometown. He spent his free time painting masks of characters from different plays, choosing his designs based on the play’s story and the emotions of each character. He hopes that through the arts he share with his hand-made masks, he can inspire curiosity towards the traditional performance art form. VNA Photo: Tường Quân
