Also made from glutinous rice, mung beans, pork and several other ingredients as ‘banh chung’ – a special traditional food for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival - that is wrapped with leaves into a square form in almost all corners of Vietnam, ‘banh chung gu’ is another version made by ethnic minority groups in the northern province of Ha Giang that has a hump shape. ‘Banh chung gu’ not only is an indispensable dish during Tet and other traditional holidays of ethnic minority groups in Ha Giang, but has also become familiar for visitors from other localities, even foreign ones, to the province. ‘Banh chung gu’ now is available in all around the country and even exported to the Republic of Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, and etc. VNA Photo: Nam Thái
