Artisan Nguyen Dang Che, born in 1936 in Dong Khe neighborhood, Thuan Thanh ward, Bac Ninh province, has been dedicated to the Dong Ho folk painting craft for over 80 years. He is a key figure in preserving, teaching, and promoting the value of Dong Ho folk painting. To this day, the artisan and his descendants continue to make paintings, pass on the craft, and promote the value of Dong Ho folk painting to a wide audience both domestically and internationally. Recently, the Dong Ho folk painting craft has been added to UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
