Yagi was the most powerful typhoon in the East Sea (internationally known as South China Sea) in the past three decades, and the strongest to hit mainland Việt Nam in 70 years.

The event was also attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Đỗ Văn Chiến, Minister of National Defence General Phan Văn Giang, Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Lương Tam Quang, and many other officials.

The Central Relief Committee said that on September 12-13, it conducted first-phase allocation to 20 localities hit by the storm, and the second allocation will be implemented on September 16 basing on the level of damage of localities.

Along with the Government, localities have been making every effort to rescue people and property and overcome the consequences of the storm to quickly stabilise people's lives.
