All 18 Vietnamese crew members aboard Dolphin 18 were successfully rescued after their ship sent a distress signal in the early hours of January 11.

In 2024, Vietnam's trade revenue reached USD 786.29 billion, a 15.4 percent increase compared to 2023. Of this, exports rose by 14.3 percent, and imports grew by 16.7 percent. The trade balance recorded a surplus of USD 24.77 billion.

The Lao official emphasised the strong bond and long-standing special relationship between Việt Nam and Laos, which has been forged through difficulties and challenges.

During the visit, Trung paid a courtesy call to former Prime Minister and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is also Senior Advisor of the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP), and met with Assistant Secretary-General of the party and Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing.

PM Chính congratulated the Lao Party, State and people on their remarkable achievements over nearly four decades of renewal, noting frequent high-level exchanges aimed at further deepening the Việt Nam -Laos relationship.

The website said the banking sector, in particular, becomes a cornerstone of this economic resurgence, driving consumer credit growth and facilitating expansive economic opportunities.

PM Chính said their co-operation with the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF), the Việt Nam -Laos Friendship Association (VLFA), and relevant Vietnamese agencies across various sectors have not only bolstered people-to-people exchanges and but also raised the awareness of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship nurtured by Presidents Hồ Chí Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, among the public, particularly young generations.

Both sides also agreed to strive for bilateral trade turnover of US$5 billion, up from the current $2.2 billion.

The visit will be made at the invitation of PM Phạm Minh Chính. 

The park, covering over 30,000 square metres, is located in Xaythany district, an area planned to be a new urban centre following the expansion of the capital. At the heart of the park is a large square and an artificial lake surrounded by green spaces.

By the end of 2024, the disbursed FDI capital in Vietnam is estimated to reach approximately 25.35 billion , up 9.4 percent compared to 2023, marking the highest disbursement level ever recorded. Total newly registered capital, additional capital adjustments, and foreign investors' capital contributions and share purchases are estimated at nearly USD 38.23 billion
