A 106-member Vietnamese rescue delegation from the Ministry of National DefenSe and the Ministry of Public Security arrived in Yangon airport in Myanmar on March 30 afternoon to assist with earthquake relief efforts.

Starting from March 31, the Vietnamese forces will commence search and rescue operations in the affected areas, while relief supplies will be distributed to communities in need.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn remarked that the two nations share deep-rooted solidarity, friendship, and cooperation, forged through their years of struggle for independence and freedom.

PM Phạm Minh Chính underlined the significance of the projects and the development of the railway industry, stressing that achieving these ambitious goals requires a shift in mindset—moving away from outdated thinking and embracing self-reliance, national pride, and resilience.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasised the need to establish a full-fledged railway industry, mastering technology, producing rolling stock, and developing an integrated railway ecosystem. He also highlighted the opportunity for Vietnam to harness this challenge as a catalyst for national growth and innovation.

The PM directed localities to pool the entire political system to finalise land clearance and secure sufficient material supply, and prevent its shortages.

The visit reaffirms Việt Nam’s role as a trusted and stable partner amid global uncertainties and underscores the need for close collaboration among Belgium, Việt Nam, ASEAN, and the European Union (EU).

The team’s equipment will be carefully selected to ensure efficiency, drawing from Việt Nam's experience in earthquake relief operations in Turkey in 2023.

Brazil is also in talks with Việt Nam about Embraer selling airplanes and exploring the possibility of setting up production activities in Việt Nam, allowing the country to participate in assembling Embraer aircraft.

On this occasion, Việt Nam and Brazil signed and exchanged several bilateral cooperation agreements.

A comprehensive master plan must ensure balanced growth, avoiding overconcentration in Đà Nẵng while unlocking Quảng Nam’s potential, General Secretary Tô Lâm urged.
