The Ministry of National Defence held in Hanoi on June 14 the first scientific conference on the national-level topic on the solidarity among Việt Nam, Laos and Cambodia led by Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Văn Giang.

President Tô Lâm presented gifts to over 100 distinguished representatives from ethnic communities in border, sea and island areas during a meeting in Hà Nội on June 14.

President Lâm stressed that the development of the courts is closely connected with the building and perfection of the State.

The UN agency should support developing countries to enhance resilience to external shocks and multiple crises while linking its activities with the global agendas, said Vietnamese deputy foreign minister Nguyễn Minh Hằng.

Among the 100 outstanding delegates honoured at the event, two have donated blood more than 100 times, seven from 70-99 times, and 26 from 50-69 times.

Members of the NA Standing Committee basically agreed with the Government's proposal to continue reducing the VAT rate by two per cent for goods and services, which are applying a 10-per-cent VAT rate in the last six months of this year.

The president said the sector must better perform its prosecutorial responsibilities and judicial supervision and create stable, favourable conditions for national development. 

Congratulating Lâm on being elected as the State President of Việt Nam, Knapper reaffirmed the US’s commitment to supporting a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Việt Nam.

President Lâm attributed the national development achievements obtained so far partly to dedications by religious organisations and dignitaries.

Concluding the 34th session of the NA Standing Committee, NA Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn emphasised that the bills and draft resolutions relate to many sectors and receive much attention of voters nationwide.

The Deputy PM appreciated the effective implementation of the 2012 MoU on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice and the RoK’s Ministry of Government Legislation.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính emphasised the need to continue making breakthroughs to improve institutions and formalise the Party's views and guidelines.

The leader stated Việt Nam hopes to step up and expand joint work with each ASEAN member country within the framework of bilateral cooperation, especially in potential areas to meet development needs and for mutual benefits and prosperity of the sides involved.

Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Minh Vũ emphasised the need to address challenges and the importance in applying the 'Constitution of Oceans' - a comprehensive legal document that regulates all maritime activities of countries which is an important basis for the implementation of the UN goal on the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources.

President Tô Lâm said at the third meeting of the Steering Committee, reviewing 40 years of Đổi mới (Renewal), that it was time to promote the intellect of experts, scientists, managers and people from all walks of life.

The permanent mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Office, World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations in Geneva opened a photo exhibition to mark the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities in Việt Nam.

Germany ranks 18th out of the 143 countries and territories investing in Việt Nam, while Việt Nam is also one of Germany’s biggest trade partners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and fifth in Asia.

The two sides should coordinate in carrying out the agreement on economic cooperation, striving to bring bilateral trade turnover to US$18 billion by 2028.

During the resistance war, tens of thousands of diaries, letters, personal belongings which were artifacts of Vietnamese soldiers were collected on the battlefields, and most of the originals have been destroyed.
