Vietnamese young athletes to hunt regional table tennis championship golds

HÀ NỘI -- Young Vietnamese table tennis players are aiming for gold medals at the SEA Youth Asian Table Tennis Championship which began on May 12 in Malaysia.

A team of sixteen talented youngsters are competing in both boys and girls age groups in age cateogories ranging from 14 to 19 years at the Sports Arena OCM Indoor Complex, in Kuala Lumpur.

Among them is Nguyễn Hoàng Lâm who is expected to top the podium again after winning the boys' 16-17 year old competition.

Other potential winners are Đỗ Mạnh Lương, Đinh Nhật Nam and Cao Tuấn Anh for the boys and Nguyễn Như Quỳnh, Nguyễn Ngọc Kim Ngân and Lương Bảo Hân in the girls' categories.

On day one of the competition, it was team competitions and Việt Nam secured four wins in the boys' 15 and 19 year old groups and two defeats in the girls' 15 and 19 years old section.

The tournament features athletes from all ten regional nations with the finals scheduled for May 16. VNS
