HÀ NỘI — AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines are currently not available in Việt Nam, according to the Drug Administration of Việt Nam (under the Ministry of Health).

The vaccine has reached the end of its shelf life and no new batches have been imported to the country.

Việt Nam now only stores several vaccines that have not passed their expiration dates for COVID-19 prevention and control.

AstraZeneca has been withdrawing its COVID vaccine worldwide, citing a decline in demand.

During the pandemic, the vaccine was included in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing.

Việt Nam procured more than 30 million doses of the vaccine from AstraZeneca, in addition to vaccine donations.

The last doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines were administered in Việt Nam before July 2023, according to the national drug administration.

The vaccine has also attracted attention after AstraZeneca recently admitted that they can cause rare side effects, which health experts said is not a cause for concerns due to the low rates of adverse reactions. — VNS
