HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam beat Botswana 5-0 in the first match of the eight-team UEFA Friendship Tournament on April 11 in Turkey.

According to the coaching board, players delivered good job with high determination in this match.

Playing against a weaker rival, they set up their domination and gained most ball possession during the match. The score should be much better if some of threatening opportunities were not wasted.

The young players would be prepared well as American and Turkish players were bigger, taller and stronger with good technique.

"We worked hard in this match but our performance was not as good as expected," said captain Nguyễn Ngô Thảo Nguyên.

"We will have to practise harder to be ready for next challenges."

Her teammate Nguyễn Thị Minh Ánh agreed and said she was excited to take part in this international competition which would bring her experience needed for the future.

In the next game on April 13, Việt Nam will play the US which beat Turkey 1-0 in another game on April 11.

In the other group, Uganda will play China, Wales and Paraguay.

The UEFA tournament is a platform for young talents to learn, grow and showcase their abilities. It serves as a testament to UEFA’s dedication to fostering young talent across the globe, ensuring the future of women’s football is bright and competitive. VNS
