Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 13 stressed the need to ease difficulties and remove obstacles, especially in terms of market, institutions, and credit capital, for the production, processing and export of forest and aquatic products.

Addressing a working session with representatives of the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFOREST) and the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), PM Chinh required more efforts to develop forestry and fishery production effectively and sustainably towards the improvement of added value and competitiveness associated with promoting the development of the processing industry, post-harvest work and market development both at home and abroad.Read full story

- Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, on April 12 held online talks with General Yoshida Yoshihide, Chief of Staff of the Japan Self-Defence Forces Joint Staff.

During the conversation, Cuong congratulated Yoshida Yoshihide on his new position, expressing his belief that the Japanese official will reap new successes and make active contributions to the cooperation between the Vietnam People’s Army and the Japan Self-Defence Forces, thus deepening the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. Read full story

- Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Le Hong Son on April 12 had a meeting with Beaudet Stephane, Vice President of the Ile de France region of France, who showed hope to foster collaboration with the Vietnamese capital in circular economy and areas of the French region’s strengths.

Stephane, who is in Hanoi for the 12th Vietnam-France decentralisation conference slated for April 13-16, said that the event provides great chances for the two localities to discuss and expand partnership in the fields of shared interest. Read full story

- The number of newly-opened securities accounts in March plunged to the lowest in the past two years, marking the sixth consecutive month the market did not record more than 100,000 new accounts, according to the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD).

Compared to the peak liquidity period, the number of new accounts fluctuated between 200,000-450,000. Read full story

- The sea turtle nesting season has started at the Con Dao National Park, the first in Vietnam to have successfully carried out a turtle conservation programme.

The waters surrounding Con Dao archipelago, off the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, record four turtle species, namely the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), and loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). Read full story

- Samsung Vietnam Complex, Samsung Vina Electronics Company, and Junior Achievement Organisation on April 12 officially launched the "Solve for Tomorrow 2023" contest.


The contest will run until November 11 with two groups for junior and and high school students competing in three rounds. Read full story

- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of the northern province of Phu Tho on April 13 held a press conference on the organisation of Hung Kings Temple festival and “Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week”.

The events are slated to take place from April 21 to 28 in Phu Tho province’s Viet Tri city to commemorate the legendary founders of the Vietnamese nation. Read full story

- Conquering Fansipan Peak from the resort town of Sa Pa is one of the favourite experiences of tourists in the world to improve their physical strength, according to a hotel booking app covering 220 countries and territories.

- The Asia's premier golf tournament - International Series Vietnam 2023 - will take place in Cam Ranh, the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, from April 13-16, marking its return to Vietnam after seven years.

As part of the Asian Tour and the International Series closely affiliated with LIV Golf, the tournament will bring together 156 golfers. Read full story

- The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM), themed “Cultural tourism”, opened on April 13 in Hanoi, featuring 450 pavilions from 51 provinces and cities nationwide and 15 foreign countries and territories.

The four-day event is expected to attract over 60,000 visitors, and representatives from 3,000 businesses that are interested in seeking cooperation opportunities and partners./. Read full story
