Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has just signed a decision on a house rental support policy for workers.

According to Decision 08 dated March 28, two groups of workers will be entitled to the support, i.e., laborers currently working in enterprises and laborers returning to the labor market. They will receive an amount of VND 500,000 (USD 21.7) and VND 1 million (USD 43.4) per person each month, respectively, for no more than three months.

The decision stipulates that employees working in enterprises in industrial parks, export processing zones or key economic regions will be supported when they fully meet the following conditions. Firstly, they rent houses in the period from February 1 to June 30, 2022; secondly, they enter into indefinite-term labor contracts or labor contracts of one month or more that take effect before April 1, 2022; and thirdly, they participate in compulsory social insurance in the month preceding the time their employer makes a list of support-requesting workers.

For laborers not subject to compulsory social insurance, they must be included in the list of salary recipients of the enterprise for the month preceding the time the enterprise makes a list of support-requesting workers.

The employer must send the list to the concerned social insurance agency, which will, within two working days after receiving the list, confirm employees’ participation in compulsory social insurance.

Later, the employer will submit a request for support to the district-level People’s Committee for appraisal, which will then forward it to the provincial-level People’s Committee for issuing a decision on approval of the list of support recipients and money amounts given as support. The request handling time of district- and provincial-level People’s Committees is two working days each.

The employer must make payment to the eligible employees within two working days after receiving money from the provincial-level administration, reads the decision.__VLLF
