Reference exchange rate up strongly at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,165 VND/USD on December 6, up 48 VND from the last working day of previous week (December 3).

Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,165 VND/USD on December 6, up 48 VND from the last working day of previous week (December 3).

With the current trading band of +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applicable to commercial banks during the day is 23,859 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,470 VND/USD

Meanwhile, the opening-hour rates at commercial banks saw slight changes.

At 8:35am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 22,680 VND/USD  and the selling rate at 22,950 VND/USD, both up 10 VND from December 3.

Meanwhile, BIDV kept both rates unchanged at 22,700 VND/USD (buying) and 22,940 VND/USD (selling).

During the week from November 29 to December 3, the daily reference exchange rate followed a downward trend for most of the week except for Wednesday. It ended the week down 26 VND./.
