Hanoi (VNA) – Delegates from more than 300 universities from over 30 countries worldwide have participated in the One Asia Convention Hanoi 2018 – Hope for the Future in Hanoi.

The convention was co-held by the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), Vietnam National University, Hanoi and One Asia Foundation on August 3 to provide a forum for politicians, managers and scientists to share knowledge and experience in promoting a common prosperity in Asia.

According to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Affairs Nguyen Sy Cuong, reports delivered at the event covered a number of today’s pressing issues, notably solutions to climate change and development of communications and science-technology in the era of Industry 4.0.

Some addressed opportunities and challenges to the future of the Asian Community and other issues related to culture, education, migration, labour movement and win-win solutions to conflicts and disputes, he added.

ULIS Rector Do Minh Tuan said during the event, delegates contributed ideas towards a common goal of maintaining peace, stability and development, and strengthening solidarity and cooperation within the Asian Community in the future.

One Asia Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded in Japan in 2009, aiming to contribute to the establishment of Asian Community in the future. It has a basic fund of around 10 billion JPY. The foundation has to date provided scholarships for more than 8,000 people and financially supported over 5,000 scholars and researchers of Asian studies. It has also opened about 1,000 courses on Asian studies in 120 universities. –VNA
