A programme called “Dieu uoc cho em” (Wishes for children) was launched on April 11 to call for resources to support the development of education in extremely difficult areas. The programme is a joint effort of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee, and the Vietnam Red Cross Society, with an agreement signed the same day. Many domestic and foreign businesses have committed to supporting the building of schools and toilets, and provide lunch to 30,000 students as well as scholarships to poor students with total value of 127 billion VND (5.51 million USD).
