Phu Yen (VNA) – An art programme was held in Tuy Hoa city in the south-central province of Phu Yen on December 6 night, featuring performances staged by local artists and classical Indian dancers.

The event was part of the show series co-hosted by the Indian Embassy and the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and India.

In her remarks, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Thi Nguyen Thao said Phu Yen has worked to expand its cooperation with Indian partners, noting that India is now a leading investor in Phu Yen and has supported the province in social welfare.   

Cultural exchanges between Phu Yen and India have also been diversified with such activities as the celebration of International Day of Yoga and the Namaste Vietnam Festival, the first of its kind in Vietnam, she added.

Present at the event, Indian Ambassador Sandeep Arya, said the programme contributed to consolidating and enhancing the traditional relations between the two countries, and promoting the effective cooperation between Phu Yen and Indian partners.

The Indian show was choreographed by the great scholar and seasoned art administrator Dr Sonal Mansingh, a Member of Parliament of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament (Rajya Sabha).

Earlier, the Indian repertoire group performed in Hanoi. Apart from the capital city and Phu Yen, they have come to Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan and Tay Ninh through December 9./.
