More capital needed to build Mỹ An-Cao Lãnh Expressway

Construction of the Mỹ An-Cao Lãnh Expressway project in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Đồng Tháp needs extra investment of VNĐ1.5 trillion (US$60.4 million) for the first phase, according to the Ministry of Transport.

MEKONG DELTA — Construction of the Mỹ An-Cao Lãnh Expressway project in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Đồng Tháp needs extra investment of VNĐ1.5 trillion (US$60.4 million) for the first phase, according to the Ministry of Transport.

A ministry unit, Mỹ Thuận Project Management Board, has submitted a proposal for the additional capital to the ministry.

According to the proposal, the expressway project has a total length of 26.56 kilometres.

Its starting point will connect with Road N2 in Mỹ An in Tháp Mười District and end at An Bình Intersection in Cao Lãnh District in Đồng Tháp Province.

In the first phase, the expressway will have four lanes with a total investment of more than VNĐ6.3 trillion ($253.5 million).

Earlier, the Prime Minister had approved the project’s total investment of VNĐ4.8 trillion ($193.1 million).

The project will be executed using South Korean official development assistance (ODA) loans and reciprocal capital from the Government. It is scheduled to be completed in five years. — VNS
