HÀ NỘI —  Việt Nam made it two wins from two games at the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait on Friday evening, beating Saudi Arabia 3-1 to top Group D with one game to go.

The scorers for the Vietnamese team were Nguyễn Anh Duy, Châu Đoàn Phát and Nguyễn Minh Trí.

The only goal for Saudi Arabia came from an own goal by Đoàn Phát.

Speaking after the match, coach Diego Raul Giustozzi of Việt Nam said: "We studied our opponent carefully. In the previous match, they scored two goals from good power-play situations. We trained for this situation and limited the strength of our opponent. I am delighted with my players."

"Our victory was not easy. In the first half, Saudi Arabia defended carefully. In the second half, they pressed. However, my players still played as well as the game against South Korea," Giustozzi added.

In the next match on Sunday, Việt Nam will face Japan, who lost to Saudi Arabia.

"Japan are still a solid team in Group D,” Giustozzi said. “The final group stage match is crucial because every team has a chance to progress. We are determined to win to get to the top of the group. I am here to help my players improve every day. I am looking forward to the performance of my players against Japan.”

The tournament has 16 national teams, divided into four groups. The top two teams of each group will advance to the knockout stages. VNS
