Hanoi (VNA) – Sixteen standout contestants competed in the final round of the Speak Now 2018 contest in Hanoi on November 3.

The event was held by the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association (VUFA) in collaboration with the United Kingdom-Vietnam English School (UVES) as part of activities to mark 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the UK.

Chairman of the VUFA Hoang Van Dung stressed that the contest helps students show off their English speaking and presentation ability in a natural and fluent way. Also, it helps the children nurture their love for this global language.

As both countries are celebrating 45 years of their bilateral ties, the contest was designed to bolster culture and education exchanges between the two nations, Dung added.

A representative from the UVES said that Speak Now 2018 is a playground for children aged 6-12. Nearly 600 registrations were sent to the contest, which featured a wide range of activities in each round like team working, making dialogues and presentation.

The organising board presented one first prize, one second prize, two third prizes and 16 consolation prizes to the best contestants.-VNA
