Da Nang (VNA) – With Storm Molave set to make landfall in the central region in the next few hours, localities are taking measures to protect life and assets.

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Truong Sa district in Khanh Hoa province Le Dinh Hai said 61 boats have anchored at safe habour in Truong Sa archipelago, while the military medical force stands ready to provide help for fishermen.

The district has a reserve stock of food, water and medicine for a few days, he added.

In the meantime, Da Nang city ordered its citizens not to go out from 8 pm on October 27 until the municipal steering board for natural disasters prevention and control issues new statement.

Local officials and workers are allowed to stay at home on October 28, and other residents asked to leave areas susceptible to landslides. Strict punishment will be meted out for anyone who fails to follow the order.

The province is forecast to experience torrential downpours during October 28-31, with total precipitation of up to 500 mm.

In response to the ninth storm, Thua Thien-Hue province has rushed to strengthen dykes, instruct boats and fishing vessels to safe habour, as well as help local people to solidify their houses./.
