Hanoi (VNA) – Ministries, sectors and localities are mobilising relevant forces to quickly address the consequences of Storm Noul, as requested by the Office of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

The committee sent Dispatch 12/CD-TWPCTT directing tasks to be carried out immediately by each locality and sector, including cleaning up the environment, repairing damaged constructions like telecommunications, power, traffic, and public facilities, and delivering support to households affected by the storm.

Frequent updates on storm-related rain and flood are required for prompt response, particularly in the worse-case scenario.

Storm Noul, the fifth in the East Sea this year, made landfall in the central region on September 18.

According to the office, as of September 20, the storm left six people dead and 112 others injured; 13 houses completely collapsed and 22,716 others damaged; 3,888 ha of rice and vegetables submerged; and 105 ha of aquatic farming ruined.

Meanwhile, 16.5 km of coasts and river banks were eroded, and 36km of roads were damaged, most of which have been re-opened for traffic as of September 20 morning.

More than 312,000 customers in Thua Thien-Hue province were cut off from power due to the storm damaging power pole, stations and grids. As of 7pm on September 20, the power sector restored service for over 230,000 customers./.
