Quang Ngai (VNA) – As many as 175 scholarships were presented to poor students with high academic results and children affected by Agent Orange/dioxin in the central province of Quang Ngai on September 19.

The grants, worth 525 million VND (over 22,600 USD) in total, were handed over by the provincial Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Group of Quang Ngai Friends in Ho Chi Minh City.

On this occasion, the Group of Quang Ngai Friends also gave 247 gift packages worth 100 million VND to preschool, primary and high school students in Ba Nam commune of the mountainous district of Ba To.

2020 is the seventh year this group has presented the scholarships, named “Lighting up dreams of the Quang Ngai youth and children”.

In the six previous years, more than 1,000 students from poor families, affected by AO/dioxin and with disabilities in the province, used to be hit hard by the war, benefited from the scholarships./.
