Mexico City (VNA) –
President of the Republic of Honduras Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado has pledged to instruct the Honduras foreign ministry to promote comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

He made the commitment at an online meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoai Duong who has also been appointed to be Ambassador to Honduras.

The Honduras leader said Vietnam is a wonderful country that has set an example for other developing countries.

Duong presented his credentials to the Honduras President, and extended the greetings of Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong to President Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado. The diplomat reiterated the Vietnamese top leader’s invitation to the Honduras President to pay an official visit to Vietnam when possible.

The ambassador promised to do his best to enhance partnerships between the two countries across spheres, particularly in trade and investment.

Vietnam and Honduras established diplomatic ties on May 17, 2005. Despite limited delegation exchanges, the two countries have maintained their coordination and cooperation at international forums and organisations to which both are members./.
