Vingroup's tech arm VinSmart has opened a new plant at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in Ha Noi.

VinSmart Research and Manufacturer JSC's production line will make electronic devices as the company aims to become one of the leading brands in the global technology industry.

The designed production capacity of the new facility is more than 26 million devices per year, including 23 million smartphones and one million devices for the Internet-of-Things (IoT).

The facility meets international standards with machines supplied by US, German, Japanese and South Korean firms.

The production process is completely closed, fully-automated and highly-efficient. Completed output is fully tested by robots and computers to guarantee accuracy and stability.

The company has also invited partners from the US, Europe and Russia to conduct a full assessment of the plant’s quality to ensure it meets the demands of global markets.

The inauguration of the new plant is part of VinSmart's mass project that covers a total area of 14.8 hectares and produces 125 million devices each year.

Besides production facilities, the project plans to attract hundreds of scientists, engineers and researchers. Its Institute for Telecommunications is expected to release the first 5G products in 2020.

“The development of smart electronic devices is the base for Viet Nam to become the world’s hub for technology production,” said Le Thi Thu Thuy, deputy chairman of Vingroup JSC cum VinSmart general director, on Saturday.

“The inauguration of the production factory will help Vingroup improve its capacity to make new products, expand its ecosystem and increase its reputation on the global technology market.”

After one year of operation, VinSmart has completed the construction of factories in the cities of Hai Phong and Ha Noi, signed agreements with the leading global corporations such as Qualcomm and Google, and introduced eight smartphone models.

The company has also entered overseas markets such as Spain, Myanmar and Russia. — VNS
