Hanoi (VNA) – The 10th Thai Festival will be held at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi from September 15-16, the Thai Embassy in Vietnam announced at a press conference on August 31.

According to Wanthanee Viputwongsakul, Charge d’Affaires from Embassy of Thailand, the festival aims to further bolster the bilateral relationship between Thailand and Vietnam, while also promoting people-to-people diplomacy.

She said that she hopes the event will be a good chance for Thailand to introduce many aspects of its beautiful country, from unique cuisine to traditional arts and Muay Thai – Thailand’s traditional martial art.

The diplomat said that the ninth festival in 2017 raised 507.66 million VND for the Vietnam Fund for Children and the Vietnam Association of Agent Orange Victims of Hanoi. This year, all revenue from the festival will also be presented to social organisations in Vietnam.

This year, the festival will draw some 50 enterprises from northeastern localities of Thailand who will introduce some of the typical products from their region. Thai companies and importers operating in Vietnam in many areas – such as food, beverages, consumer goods, tourism, and aviation – will also participate in the event.

Famous Thai chefs will join the event to offer visitors various Thai dishes. Visitors to the festival will have an opportunity to enjoy traditional dances performed by both Thai dancers and Vietnamese students.

The Muay Thai performances are also one of the festival’s top highlights. –VNA
