Hanoi (VNA) - Lieut. Gen. Le Hien Van, deputy chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 22 for a delegation of Chinese war veterans and relatives of fallen soldiers who had assisted Vietnam during its resistance war against the US.

Welcoming the Chinese guests, Van said during its past struggle for national independence and liberation, Vietnam received great, wholehearted and effective assistance from international friends, especially the spiritual and financial support from China and socialist countries, which contributed to the nation’s overall victory in the resistance war against the US.

The Vietnamese Party, State, people, and army always appreciate the valuable and effective assistance from international friends, particularly the help from the Chinese Party, State and people, he said.

Representatives of the delegation recalled their time in Vietnam when they stood side by side with the people and army of Vietnam to overcome many difficulties and hardships and witnessed with their glorious feats of arms.
