Hanoi (VNA) – The Party, Government and people of Vietnam always pay attention to and support the friendship and practical cooperation of the country’s ministries and localities with China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a Vietnamese official said on March 20.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh made the statement in Hanoi while receiving Lu Xinshe, Party Secretary of Guangxi, who is currently paying a visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, the Vietnamese official spoke highly of the positive developments of the Vietnam-China relations over the recent time and asked Vietnamese localities and Guangxi to continue their cooperation in and implementation of efficient measures to bolster practical collaboration in economy, trade, transportation, agriculture, and tourism in a balanced and sustainable manner.

The two sides were instructed to bolster partnership in opening and upgrading border gates, thereby facilitating customs clearance and ensuring the implementation of three legal instruments on the Vietnam-China border.

They were also asked to ascertain the implementation of the cooperation agreements on protecting and exploiting tourism resources within the Ban Gioc Waterfall vicinity between Vietnam and China, and on the travel of vessels in the free navigation area at the mouth of the Bac Luan River.

The sides were tasked with ensuring border security and order together towards the building of a Vietnam-China border of peace, stability, friendship, cooperation, and development.

Minh also requested Guangxi to bolster the import of agro-forestry-fishery products and other goods that Vietnam holds strength in, while encouraging major businesses in the autonomous region to invest in Vietnam.

For his part, Lu Xinshe voiced his delight over the development of the China-Vietnam ties, as well as recent achievements in the partnership between Guangzi and Vietnamese localities.

He also expressed his hope for the implementation of important common perceptions reached between the two countries’ senior leaders and to ensure the implementation of signed agreements on friendship exchange enhancement with Vietnamese border provinces, contributing to the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. –VNA
